"Above All Else, We Always Do What Is Best For The Profession."

Paul Woodie

Paul Woodie has over 30 years experience in cybersecurity, the last 10 of which was helping DoD contractors and numerous  US Government personnel to enhance the security posture of our nation by obtaining DSS “Approval to Operate” - ATO - and implementing security “best practices” for their automated information systems (AIS).  He has done this through a combination of teaching, demonstrating, and consulting.  His courses are oriented to “learn by doing,” including hands-on exercises to “lock in” what is covered in the classroom.  A typical student comment is “I've not only heard and seen these best practices, but I have also implemented them.”

He retired from the Defense Security Service Academy in 2011, where he served as instructor, course developer, and curriculum manager for all of the NISPOM Chapter 8 and AIS-associated material.  Prior to his tenure at the DSS Academy, he worked in Information Assurance at NSA and the National Computer Security Center for 18 years.  In those positions, he both taught computer security and also consulted with numerous Department of Defense personnel to help them enhance the security posture of their AIS.  In addition, he has taught various Information Assurance subjects in many other venues including US Naval Academy, NSA, Learning Tree, and local community colleges.  Mr. Woodie has a B.E.S. from Johns Hopkins University and an M.E.A. from George Washington University.  In addition, he is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional.
