Mrs. Deborah Russell Collins is the Executive Vice President of Special Aerospace Security Services, Incorporated (SASSI). Deedee has over thirty years of experience in a wide array of fields to include training, organizational consulting and facilitation, human resources, and industrial security management. She is nationally recognized as an expert in the design and delivery of motivational security awareness programs and has worked with a variety of clients throughout the US Government and industry. She currently supports the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) as a course director and subject matter expert within the Office of the National Counterintelligence Executive (NCIS) to provide professional development training for security officers throughout the intelligence community.
Prior to teaming with SASSI as a consultant, Deedee was a senior manager with ESL/TRW for 15 years and responsible for new business development, community affairs, program security, security staff training and development, security awareness and managing corporate security services.
For the past six years, Deedee has also served as the Executive Director for the National Security Training Institute (NSTI) which provides security training to defense industry clients through various courses and seminars.
Deedee is acknowledged as a leading expert in the area of workplace violence, having survived a shooting at her former employer ESL/TRW. She has delivered numerous presentations on the subject throughout the country. Deedee has worked with various government agencies and private corporations to establish programs to proactively confront this epidemic in our society.
Deedee serves on the Defense and Intelligence Council of the American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS). She published an article for Security Management, “Creating a Security Culture”, which outlines what one company has done to make security a partner rather than an enforcer that results in an outstanding security program. Deedee is also a member of the Industrial Security Working Group (ISWG). She is a past President of the National Classification Management Society (NCMS). Deedee is the recipient of the NCMS Presidential Award for sustained superb leadership within the industrial security community. She participated in the development of the security education and training standards for the National Industrial Security Program (NISP).
Deedee received her B.S. degree in Business Administration-Marketing and Management from Radford University and a M.S. degree in Human Resource Management and Development from Chapman College. Author of several articles on security management, Deedee has considered it a privilege and joy to provide hundreds of presentations on a wide array of security topics before government and industry audiences throughout her career.
As a volunteer, Deedee serves on the Women’s Ministry Vision Team as well as a coordinator of Outreach Ministries at Immanuel Bible Church where she leads efforts to serve those in need in the community, particularly those in the inner city of Washington, D.C. In addition, she volunteers as a motivational speaker and facilitator for ministry conferences. Deedee is married to retired naval aviator Buzz Collins, now a pilot with Southwest Airlines, and has two sons, Christopher and Michael, and a wonderful dog named Buddy.
